A female NYPD cop who was in company of a know felon narrowly escaped by drowning after their vehicle plunged into the Jamaica bay.
The officer, who is identified, as PO Halima Hadire, was not on duty at the time of this incident.
Reliable source gathered that Hadire, who is assigned to the 76th precinct in Carroll Gardens is currently being disciplined because her passenger, a 42 year old man had earlier been convicted of a crime.
The incident which had their brand new Cadillac sedan car totally submerged, happened at about 8 p.m, left both passengers with no physical injuries.
As a result of poor weather and lack of visibility at night, an NYPD Scuba team flagged where the car sank so it could be removed at a later date, sources said. As the pair was taken to Coney Island Hospital for a medical evaluation.
NYPD brass ordered Hadire to be placed on modified duty after learning that her passenger was arrested multiple times for weapons possession — most recently in 2014 when Staten Island cops caught him with a sawed off shotgun, sources said.
No arrests were made in the Wednesday incident.
“The Internal Affairs Bureau is investigating the incident,” an NYPD spokeswoman said.
